  1. I think that it kinda works but there are ways to make look more like objects flying by. Here's two movies with the projects attached to illustrate two ideas that I had.

     

    How about using a streak emitter

    the other idea that I had was to take a panoramic picture and apply it to a the inside of a very big ring. Then put the plane in the center and rotate the ring around it.

  2. d34th5t4r, do you still have the shy-guy? I came up with a part for him during the scene at the beginning where mario is jumping through pipes. I'm working on that scene right now, then when finished it will be combined with the bathroom scene.

  4. It's been a long time since I chimed in on this forum. I'd like to get on the bandwagon again. I, luckily, don't have school...just work. If you'z guy'z let me know what is next or lingering I am available to jump on it. I worked on Mario's head and shy guy model but I am good at getting backgrounds done fast. Let me know.

  6. is anyone doing materials for mario? i feel that there is a lot of detail that we could add with some well chosen textures and decals.

     

    currently : still working on rigging starguy and shyguy. i'm not to practiced so it takes a while.

    what's the plan to address the stylistic differences in the mario and luigi models. They look different...specially the ears and the bridge of the nose.

     

    Note : compliments on the modeling of the chin and mouth for luigi...they look really good.

  8. is anyone willing to take up the job of modeling Yoshi for a week or two?i've been busy any i wont be able to work on it for the next week or two. actually i haven't really done anything to it at all, i posted the rotoscopes a few pages back and the person can use those. post on here if you want to model it and i'll pm a link to the model.

    i can work on yoshi. Pleas send me what you got.

    Talking test: For such a simple character, this was how I thought he should talk. Ala 'Paper Mario'

    The shy-guy would've had his walk cycle almost done (minus smart-skinning) but 'paste mirrored' isn't working for some reason.

    I think that the mouth movement is ok. i would have gone for a slightly more realistic jaw movement rather than scaling the whole head. When you open your mouth it's really only the lower jaw that opens.

    Here is an eye test.

    I have some reservations about using this system. the pupils have some problems as they approach the edges of the eyes. What you see in the test are the extremes that the pupil can reach without looking bad.

  11. I checked out the shy-guy for some preliminary rigging and found he has two left feet! :lol:

    two left feet huh? i don't like to sweat the details. thanks for fixin' that.

  12. Actually, that head is the head I made and gave to Deathstar so he could try to fix some problems with it.

     

    I saw he completly redid the mouth, moved the ears a bit, created eyes and maybe some other things but I would rather say it is our model and not his model...

     

     

    and... what did you do to the mustache? On pictures, it is black and not shaped that way...

     

    Edit: Why aren't the ears still round? mario is a character with round ears. Well it may depend of the image we chose...

    The reason i changed the mustache to brown was so i could see the shape better while i modeled. It will end up being very dark brown.

     

    Criticism noted on the mustache...i will revert it to Tido's original shape. i wonder what i was looking at?

    Changes that still need to happen are : The cheeks need to be fatter. the eyes smaller. the nose and chin smoother. At that point i think it will be ready to go back to Tido

  13. you know what i think....maybe you should make that into Luigi's head too, that way they would look similar than completely different, you know what i mean. tido can model Luigi's and Mario's body and you do the head...

    i would be open to working on Luigi's head.

    What i would like to do is give the mario head model back to Tido and have him make the Luigi head from it. i don't think Luigi's head is that different in detail from mario, it just needs some stretching and sculpting.

    put on your 3D glasses!

    try making the background lite so that the characters stand out more and maybe some glow on the coin. Also it's hard to see the shadows.

  15. I spent some time trying to smooth mario and it aint getting better than this. I don't get it, the splines seem very smooth but, to the render, they aren't much. If you guys don't like it, I suggest that someone else could finish the face.

  16. hey guys, I tried creating more cp so the model would be smoother but I get this strange rough look

    PS the ear is now round. What do you think of the mouth? I really don't know how to do mouth so I tried something new. kinda look strange

    actually adding splines is the wrong way to go. Like mage said lower the spline count and smooth out the contours. This can take a really long time.

     

    It's hard to see the mouth but i think the lower lip looks better with the extra volume. Try adding some curve. i suggest getting some cartoon reference and hiding the rest of the model so that you can really focus on the shape of the lips.

    These are mouth shapes for animation but i think it would make good reference for default mouth shape.

    This picture is too realistic...but you get the idea
