Very nice Mike! As has been said the eyes telegraphing the move is a nice touch. I assume there'll be some effects added as he impacts the wall. I'd guess this is part of the volumetrics/particles you mentioned. Even if only one tile fell off the wall that'd be something to give away the force of the impact. Not sure you intend the hit to be that powerful of course. Very nice balancing of both characters throughout the scene. You give a sense of weight to your characters that really sells the shot. Bravo! Rodney

There was a free AM Version contest? (The contest is still ongoing) Rodney

Rather than render your project to a movie (AVI or MOV) you can render out to a still image format such as TGA, JPG, BMP or PNG. I prefer TGA but if you'll want to use it on the web and share it JPG will probably be your best bet. If you don't have v12 you will have to render to TGA or BMP and convert to JPG or GIF (or your preferred image type) via another program. I like and use Irfanview a lot (www.irfanview.com). You can of course convert from any of these formats (except GIF) from right inside Animation:Master. Steps: Import your image or movie Right Click on the image shortcut in the Project Workspace and select 'Save as Animation". From there you'll be able to change the type of image. Save and distribute. Tell us how it works for you. Rodney

I'm still collecting names of TAoAM Alumni so.. you are in!

In some rare cases where adjusting the stride length doesn't work you might try editing your path or adjusting the ease of the walk cycle to fine tune. Is this problem isolated to a specific model? Rodney
-
This may be Mac related so I can't suggest any advice there. The OSX forum may be the place to investigate that. It may be just a matter of resetting your preferences. When you say you can't get the Pose Sliders to come up I assume you mean creating them as opposed to opening and adjusting already created poses. If just opening them make sure they are turned on in the User Properties of your model. Some models will have them turned off. Is this your own model or one you are using from another source? Rodney

I agree! Ken Baer does an outstanding job with his lecture. Watching his lectures really helps to keep things in perspective. We really have it good when it comes to animation tools. Happy New Year! Rodney
-
Kurt, Glad to see you've completed TAoA:M! Thanks for soldiering though. That is two for you. I was set to close off this topic but I've decided to leave it open while I go back in and double check to make sure all TAoA:M Alumni are accounted for and have at least their one chance at the prize. I expect verification to take approximately two days... so that gives people a little more breathing space here to post. Happy New Year everyone (it is where I am at least!) Rodney

I'd say you need to download and run the Help Installer. You'll find a link to it in the most current update (version 12q as of this writing) in the Latest Info forum area. For those that need older Help installers they can be found via the online HTML Help page. Rodney

Sounds interesting! We'll look forward to seeing your imagery. You should consider starting a Work In Progress (WIP) thread in that section to show everyone what you are working on. Let people know what a little about you, your work, what kind (if any) feedback you want and... have fun! The WIP Forum area is #7 on your A:M dial. Glad to have you with us! Rodney

I had given you the benefit of the doubt and added you already. Good luck! Rodney *** Two days now remain! ***

Very cool. That's A:M history! While it would probably never happen I think it would be a hoot to have a room full of computers running each version of A:M on the 'average' computer it ran on in its day... a museum of 3D computer animation history and technology if you will. As Hash Inc and 3DCG animation history are basically one and the same it would be a serious look at the technology and innovation that led (and still leads) toward creating animated films on our kitchen table. Some of you 'old timers' should try to get together either virtually or in person one of these days and compare notes. Rodney
-
Thanks John! For some reason I keep thinking I came on board with v8 when it was actually v6! Gonna have to chat with Ken Baer (Hash Inc historian and programmer extraordinaire) to see if we can get the subscription CD images posted online for all to reminisce about. Since users of any version of A:M can upgrade to the current version for only $99 there could be a link right there on the page to help everyone get current. Meanwhile... The countdown to New Years and the free upgrade for the 2006 subscription continues. Rodney
-
How would you feel knowing you were an inch away from getting the upgrade. I'd probably kill myself. (Not Really) Exactly. That is why it won't be revealed unless its as the good news that you are a winner. I will do everything within my power to erase the name of the runner up from my aging memory as well... so don't even try to pry it out o' me! As it is written: 'There can be only one'. Rodney
-
Really looking forward to sinking my teeth into the Squetch rig. Outstanding accomplishment! Bravo! Rodney
-
Even those of you who have the older manuals can get the new one. There are links to it in the TAoAM discussion. v7 eh? Wasn't that A:M '98; the 'Meltdown' CD?

Here is how the deadline shall run: - At the stroke of midnight somewhere in the world I will lock this topic. - Those that have posted will be entered into the contest. - An undetermined amount of time will pass in order to add all the names of TAoAM* alumni into 'the hat'. - Once I am reasonable sure that no name has been ommited I will draw two names from 'the hat'. - If qualified, the first name drawn will entitle the winner to his/her 2006 upgrade. (See first post for eligibility rules) - The second name will only be revealed if the first is ineligible. *Definition: TAoAM. The Art of Animation:Master; the manual that ships with Animation:Master software containing exercises that help you animate, model and direct your creations. How's that sound? Rodney

Make yourself at home. Glad to have you with us! Rodney

You have one cool teacher. I suspect there are a great many artists (both traditional and CG) that have had at least one teacher who really made the difference for them by providing the tools, inspiration and support needed to pursue their dreams. It sounds like yours is just such a case. Of course this doesn't just apply to art. Bravo to teachers everywhere for making learning so fun and educational for their students. Rodney
-
Charles, You and the rest have been added. For those of you still lurking in the wings... as I recall Alonso posted on the very last day last year and he won. You too could win the prize. Thanks to all who have entered thus far. Wish I had an upgrade for each and every one of you. Rodney
-
Only a few days remain. Who will be the lucky winner? Will it be you? Tune in... and find out!
-
Really starting to come together. Nice! Is this going to be an animated logo at some point or is the plan just for the static/still shot? Keep splinin' Rondey
-
Congrats! I think you will be very pleased with your decision. Here is an official pre-welcome to the A:M Community. Glad to have you joining us. Get ready for the fun! Rodney

Thats the least we could do though it pains me to do it. Animation:Master is just that good. It should be a tool in every artist's arsenal. Best of luck in your classes and beyond! Rodney
-
What Vern said. Animation:Master is not right for every case and yours appears to be one of those. Trying to learn both polygon and splines simultaneously might not be the best choice if you know you will be using a polygon application. Having said that I hope we'll see you again after you get done with your classes. A:M may not be polygon users but it sure is for animators. Best, Rodney
